Frequently Asked Questions
What will we catch?
Each month brings a different season for the most frequently caught fish. May-August is the best time to catch Blue Marlin & Sailfish. October is the prime month for Black Fin tuna and November is a great time to catch Wahoo. All year round you are also likely to catch Red Snapper, Triggerfish, or Barracuda.
We caught a giant fish! Now what?!
Congratulations! First, take lots photos and savor the memories! When you return to the marina or at the beach/snorkel spot, your guide will clean and filet your catch for you. Many guests enjoy the fresh fish ceviche made on board by our excellent crew. This is an especially nice treat while enjoying the beach stop along with a soft drink or cerveza! Other options include delivery of the fish to a local restaurant where they will make you a deliciously unforgettable meal! Of course, you can also always take the fish back to your vacation rental and cook it any way you wish! The crew has many options and can discuss them with you.
I’m concerned about getting back to the cruise ship on time…Will the cruise ship leave without me?
Our guides want to ensure you have a relaxing and enjoyable day which includes a guarantee you will be back to the cruise ship pier at your specified time. When you make your reservation, please specify the time you want to be back to the pier and confirm this information the day of the tour when you first board the boat.
What should I bring?
Sunscreen, a swimsuit and beach towel if you would like to go swimming, quick drying clothing is always best on the boat, but wear whatever you are comfortable in and willing to get a little wet…especially when you reel in that big catch!! The weather can change quickly in Cozumel, so it is best to bring a light jacket or long sleeve shirt if you tend to get cold. For shoes, we recommend sneakers (they may get wet) if you would like to keep your shoes on or you always have the option to wear flat sandals or go barefoot. A drybag is very helpful to keep your personal items in, but we always have some on board for you to borrow.
I don’t speak Spanish is that okay?
Absolutely! All our guides are fully bilingual and speak English as well as Spanish. All tours will be in the language you are comfortable with.
There are more than 4 people in our group can we still fish with you?
Yes! Just email us and we can create a custom fishing tour for your group.
It’s time for my tour, where do I meet you?
If you are arriving on a cruise ship, after booking, we will give you specific instructions on how to get to the marina via a short taxi ride. If you are staying on the island we will send you directions on where to meet Sammy at Caleta Marina. Dock pick ups are available at certain resorts. Additional information on where to meet Sammy the day of your tour will be provided after your reservation is confirmed.
Does the ALL INCLUSIVE stated price include tips?
The stated pricing does not include tips. Tips are not required but greatly appreciated. Our tour guides work very hard to ensure you have a wonderful experience. Tips can range from 15%-25%+ depending on the level of service you believe you received.
What time do the tours start?
The early bird catches the (largest) fish! Our guides recommend starting your tour around 7:00am to ensure the best catch! Of course, since the tour is 100% personalized, you may designate a start time that is best for you and our guides will be happy to accommodate your schedule.
What if the weather is bad?
If the weather presents an unsafe condition, we will contact you the day before to reschedule your tour. If your tour cannot be rescheduled we will offer you 100% refund.
What if the cruise ship changes the day or cancels the port of call?
If the itinerary of your cruise ship changes, just email us asap and we will do our best to accommodate the revised itinerary. If your tour cannot be rescheduled or if the Cozumel port of call is cancelled, you will be issued 100% refund.
What is your Cancellation & refund policy
If you cancel your tour within 24 hours of your tour start time, you will charged 50% the cost of the tour on the credit card used to make your deposit.
I have a tendency toward seasickness. How can I prevent this?
If you have a tendency towards seasickness you may take over the counter Dramamine before you board the boat. Many people have also found ginger chews help with nausea. Both of these items are readily available in the USA and can be brought with you. If the seas are very rough and you don’t feel well at any point, just tell your guide and they will do everything in their power to make your trip enjoyable.
Is the tour safe?
Upon boarding the vessel the well-trained crew will conduct a brief safety orientation to ensure you are comfortable with the location and access of the life preservers and review other safety information to ensure a safe voyage.
I have more questions…
